"The first and almost the only book deserving of universal attention is the Bible. I speak as a man of the world...and I say to you, 'Search the Scriptures."
John Quincy Adams - 6th President
"Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties. Write its precepts in your hearts, and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book are we indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future. Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."
Ulysses S. Grant - 18th President
"If you take out of your statues, your constitution, your family life and all that is taken from the Sacred Book, what would there be left to bind society together?"
Benjamin Harrison - 23 President
As we begin another National Day of Prayer, let us hold fast to the knowledge that He is the King of the Universe. His great love for us exemplified in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ should give us confidence as we go before His throne today and ask for help in time of need. He is who we need in our daily lives. He is our all in all. Without Him our world would fall apart and there would be nothing. Let us go before Him and pray, not just today...but every day, for the life of this nation, our states, our counties, our cities, our neighborhood and our own household. Let us also NOT forget to pray for our world and for our brothers and sisters around the globe who are suffering because of their love for Christ. May our lives be laced with love for all and may we have a keen understanding that we should be gentle as doves, but wise as serpents in our dealings with all. May our words be God words and our lives exhibit righteousness, peace and joy so that the world will be drawn to our Lord and know that they are forgiven and loved.
May correction come in our lives gently and may our hearts be willing to accept HIS correction...for His correction always brings hope, life and a new beginning. May we understand that in the most hopeless of situations, He is our hope. When we feel unloved, He loves us. When we feel powerless to change, He gives us courage.
As a nation we desperately need to return to our Maker and allow Him to order our lives once again so that peace will return to our land and that we will return to being the beacon of life, liberty and hope to a hurting world. May all those to seek to harm us because of our love of God be blessed today with the knowledge of Him in all wisdom and understanding and that their hearts will be turned to the God who made them.
Save us Oh Lord. You are our only help and our only salvation...we rely totally on you and we love you with everything in our being.
