never forget to laugh

This has been a wonderful weekend with family.  We must never forget to laugh.  It's not the time to insert some cheesy poem about how therapeutic laughter is.  It is not the time to recount the many memories of childhood nor to remember the goofy stuff we all did.  It is the time to just enjoy and laugh and eat and talk and walk away tired but refreshed in the joys of family.

Around us, a Cousin looses her husband suddenly.  A friend is still fighting cancer.  Another is wondering where the money will come from for the month.  A co-worker is tired caring for her two year old who just had life altering surgery.  It is not hard to find pressure in our own world with our own friends or our own relatives or co-workers.  But interestingly enough, there is strength in laughter.  Luke 6:21 says we are happy when we are mourning because we will laugh.  Eventually the mourning will cease and the laughter will come as joy births strength again in us.

For some, this is a grieving time.  For others this is a rejoicing time.  As life cycles and seasons come and go, seize the joyful times and joy in the tough times.  Some believe the end of all things is death, but eventually joy will come and death will melt away.   Like a winter's covering of snow giving way to the warm earth, life will once again bloom and so will joy.
