Sleep, ohhh, sleep.  So good for the body and ever so good for the soul.  The previous night had been too short because I just couldn't get my feet warm.  Our first hard freeze was that night and quite frankly, I was too lazy to get up and put my feet into a nice hot tub of water to warm them up...which was my usual method of operation for toasting the tootsies.  But last night was different...sleep came on me quickly and this a.m. was not the surprise it had been the morning before.

After a month of spiritual drought my heart this morning was not to wallow in my own dryness, but to go to the well of life and talk with our dear Holy Spirit.  With that in mind, I slowly moved from my bed to the bathroom to start getting ready for the day.

"I can talk with you while you clean up," said He.

"So what's on your mind."

"Do you know why I gave you eyes to see, ears to hear, and a mouth to speak?"

Without hesitation or waiting for my response He began to tell me that my eyes were meant to see people and situations the way He saw them.  My mouth was to be creative like His was in the beginning when He said, "let there be..."  My ears were meant to hear His words so that I would have clear instructions, encouragement to move forward...to know that He loves me and so that my mouth would be filled to overflowing with what my ears had heard.

He completely formed us to be His male and female sons.  We are his hands and mouth on this earth.  Everything physical we see was meant to be used His way...otherwise, there is no need to see or to hear or to speak.  There is no reason to have hands that feel or feet that run.

Perhaps you are like me and kind of...sort of...already know this. Look at what He said in this light.  If He gave us a mind to be used for Him, then as a believer we can have the confidence that we can know His thoughts.  Not just to struggle...trying to get His thoughts, but actually getting His thoughts.  Okay, perhaps this will help.  When I have a thought, I usually tell my husband what I'm thinking.  My thoughts are not just "tapping into" the mind of God, but hearing what He has to say.  He tells me His thoughts as He does you.  The key to knowing the mind of God is to listen to what He is saying.  We have the written Word and we have His word for us at any given moment.

Learning.  There are multiple way to learn.  For the visual, they need to see "it".  For the auditory, they need to hear.  Then there are those who learn best through a hands on approach...experience it themselves. We all learn to see with our eyes, our ears and our mouths.  We visualize with our natural eyes.  We visualize with what we hear.  We visualize with what we experience.  Everything is processed through the brain or the mind.  Even our bodies react to what the mind is saying to us.  So the mind is the engine for the entire body.

When the Word said that we have the Mind of Christ, we can trust this to be true.  We have the mind of the God of the Universe.  We have so much crammed into our heads about world disorder and chaos from every news channel and Internet news source.  We see evil seemingly triumphing over good.  Our hearts can be panicked, or we can operate in His mind and filter or separate truth from fear.

The days ahead of us contain lots of unknowns.  These days and these times require that we let Him guide our thoughts.  Like Noah who heard and then prepared, so must we be.  Hear His voice when He says to buy lunch for the guy on the corner who sits there daily with a sign, begging for food.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem no matter how things look.  Speak a word of love to the most unlovable person because the Holy Spirit is wanting your mouth to be used for His purposes.  And finally, submit your members.  As Romans 6:13 says, "Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God."
